Annual Excellence Awards 2018

CPM Centres for Pain Management awards five Excellence awards at the annual CPM Pain Update conference held in October. The Annual Excellence Awards are to awarded to a selected nurse, administrative, support services and management staff member who have demonstrated leadership while also providing compassionate and high quality care of patients with chronic pain. The fifth award is the Ramesh Zacharias Award, provided to a CPM Physician who demonstrates strong leadership and innovation in the chronic pain industry. The recipients are chosen based on feedback from staff and management.

The Ramesh Zacharias Award

Dr. Nayyar Razvi was awarded the Ramesh Zacharias Award 2018 at the 11th Annual Pain Update Conference on Saturday, October 27th, 2018. The Ramesh Zacharias Award was created to honour Dr. Ramesh Zacharias, the founder of CPM, who had the vision to create the largest (and best) outpatient pain management organization in Canada. This award recognizes someone who has demonstrated leadership while also providing compassionate and high quality care of patients with pain.

Dr. Razvi offers exemplary leadership within the CPM clinics. The staff and MDs find him to be a delight to work with. He thinks outside the box and is innovative in his approach to pain management.

Nurse Excellence Award

Our Nursing Excellence award for 2018 is presented to Gillian McGibbon, RN in Oshawa. This was awarded to Gill for her ability to touch the lives of all those around her. Gill has been monumental to the commissioning of the Infusions Suite at CPM Oshawa, and she has been dedicated to growing the service and ensuring that patients receive the care they need when they have no other options. Gill is a true team player, a caring nurse and a loving friend to all those who have the honour of working with her.

Management Excellence Award

Brooke Dushenko, Outside Sales & Marketing Manager, was presented the Management Excellence Award for being passionate about her job and wanting to see improvements. She does an incredible job educating family doctors about our services.

Administrative Excellence Award

Christine Jones, MOA in Mississauga, was awarded the Administrative Excellence Award. At a time when we were short staffed, Christine jumped to action and worked without backup for 6 months. During this time, she did not complain but rather embraced the challenge. She was able to find a way to get the work done, and done well. Physicians, patients and staff consistently praise her professionalism and initiative attitude. Her contributions and abilities are an important key in the success of the clinic.

Support Services Excellence Award

Rebecca Warkentin, Marketing & Sales Representative, received the Support Services Excellence Award. Rebecca Warkentin continues to show she is a team player no matter the task. She stepped up to help with marketing in a sales capacity before formally moving into the role, and has been an integral part of the marketing and sales team. Her strong administrative approach to marketing is shown in both our online/offline presence and continues to strive to make improvements for all initiatives.
